About Lawrence & Lovatt

Sir Robert Lawrence was my wife, Kate's, grandfather. His knighthood was the result of significant WW2 contributions, followed by an influential business career culminating in his chairmanship of both the British Rail Property Board and the National Freight Corporation. He was also a great lover of sport, particularly rugby. And once his playing days were over he avidly followed the Old Alleynians RFC and of course, England, home and away, in the 'Five Nations'.

Reginald Lovatt was my grandfather, also sport mad. Football and cricket were his passions. An avid Stoke City supporter who watched the legendary Stanley Matthews on many occasions. His cricket inspiration was S.F. Barnes of Staffordshire and England, no less - arguably the greatest bowler of them all. He was fortunate enough to see him bowl in the flesh at Stafford CC. 

Both were keen amateur sportsmen, enjoying everything that goes with that. The blood, sweat and tears of a hard fought contest and the camaraderie, win or lose, of those post match debriefings. 

That, of course, remains the principal reason we all play sport. And in comparison to our parents generation, we all play sport to a much greater age. Lawrence & Lovatt aims to provide sports kit to gentlemen of all ages. 25 year olds as well as 85 year olds. This is not 'performance' kit, assuring you of PBs. (Personal bests). Lawrence & Lovatt kit will be traditional, comfortable and stylish, and look as good during the match as it does at the celebrations or commiserations afterwards. My promise is that there will be no garish colours, nothing lycra, and you will look and feel fabulous for what is to many, the highlight of their week.
